GST and VAT worked out per branch, printed the way the law names them

Tax regions, tax categories and dated tax rules: CGST and SGST in India, VAT where prices include tax, printed correctly on every receipt.

A tax rate belongs to a place and a kind of thing, not to an item. An item names its tax category, a branch names its tax region, and a dated rule joins the two — 5% GST split into CGST 2.5% and SGST 2.5% in India, 20% VAT in the UK.

Each bill copies the tax that applied when it was rung up, so a rate change next year never rewrites a bill from this one. Selling an item with no tax rule is refused rather than charged at zero.

How it works

  1. 01

    Tax on top or included

India adds tax to the menu price; the UK and the UAE print prices with VAT already in. Each region says which, and the till shows the right total either way.

  2. 02

    Rate changes from a date

A new rate is a new rule from a date, never an edit — the old rule still explains what older bills were charged.

  3. 03

    Your registration on the receipt

GSTIN in India, VAT No in the UK, TRN in the UAE — printed under the label each region uses.

  4. 04

    Tax reports by component

See tax collected by rate and by component for any range and branch, and export it to Excel.

Questions about gst & vat

Does EasyTable split GST into CGST and SGST?
Yes. A tax rule is made of named components, so 5% restaurant GST prints as CGST 2.5% and SGST 2.5%.
Can one business have branches in different tax regions?
Yes. Each branch belongs to a tax region with its own currency, rules and receipt label.
